Albert (Bart) Voortman

   Albert was ook bekend als Albert Voortman en Bart Voortman.

Dutch Branches
The Dutch branches Voortman and Vortman both are descended from the ancestors Gerdt Vortmann - Rolff Vortmann - Johann Lampe Vortmann - Johann Jürgen Vortmann.
In the year 1813 Johann Jürgen Vortmann moved to the region called Oldambt in the Dutch province Groningen. He married twice there and lived successively in Scheemda, Wagenborgen en Midwolda. His house in Midwolda was kept in the family until it was left from the widow Vortman-Oudekerk in 1968.

The first child of Johann Jürgen, Roelf Voortman, moved with his family from the region Oldambt to the region called Westerkwartier (round Zevenhuizen) in the western part of the Dutch province Groningen. Their descendants spread out widely with concentrations in the region Ooststellingwerf in eastern part of the Dutch province Friesland and adjacent part of the Dutch province Drenthe (Noordenveld). The other children and the early generations grandchildren mainly stayed in the eastern part of the province Groningen.

Vortman - Voortman
One of the grandchildren of Johann Jürgen, Wemeltje Vortman, got children born out of wedlock. remarkable is the fact that three of the four children did not get their mother's surname Vortman (with single-o), but were called Voortman with double-o.

Albert trouwde met Johanna (Joanna, Anna) van Aken op 10 Feb 1789 in Arnhem. (Johanna (Joanna, Anna) van Aken werd geboren omstreeks 1767 in Arnhem en overleed op 26 Aug 1837 in Deventer.)
