Tussen 1296 en 1299 (Leeftijd 28) Fought with his father-in-law, Charles II of Naples, against his own brother, Frederick of Sicily, before giving up and withdrawing his troops. 1296 (Leeftijd 28) Agreed in a treaty to give up Sicily to his new father-in-law Charles II of Naples. 1302 (Leeftijd 34) In the Peace of Caltabellotta Charles II of Naples reliquished his claim to Sicily and James's brother, Frederick, was confirmed as king of the island
